Seminar on hybrid car technology for the Cyprus Fire Service

22 September 2011

A recent seminar on hybrid technology and airbags was held in Nicosia, organized by the leading automotive parts company KAPODISTRIAS. In line with its philosophy of social responsibility, the company hosted the one-day seminar for members of the Cyprus Fire Service at its new, state-of-the-art training center.

The seminar was supported by global automotive parts giant Robert Bosch, who led the way in airbag technology and is continuing to break new ground in the sector of hybrid diesel-electric technology. The company’s representative from Greece, Demetris Kostarelos, travelled to Cyprus in order to carry out the training for the seminar.

Now that so many more hybrid cars are taking to roads in Cyprus, one of the main themes highlighted during the meeting was the vital need for emergency responders like the Fire Service to be able to deal with accidents involving high-voltage battery packs, and to know how to save lives while staying safe themselves.

The seminar was attended by fire crew chiefs from around the island, including Officer Ezekiel Papadopoulos who thanked and congratulated seminar organizer KAPODISTRIAS, and stressed how important it was for members of the Fire Service to be continuously educated on the subject of new technologies to equip them in their role as responders in cases of accidents. He also expressed his wishes that the collaboration could be extended in the future, with more seminars as and when needed, in order to provide the maximum benefit to the community.
